Telehealth is making Healthcare easier for Veterans

November 10, 2017 - 1 minute read

The U.S. Department of Veteran’s Affairs is making healthcare more convenient for veterans through the new VA Connect smartphone application. VA Connect uses encryption to provide a secure and private healthcare session between the veteran and their healthcare team.

According to the VA, some 702,000 veterans (12 percent of the veteran populations in the US) received healthcare services via telehealth in 2016, with 45 percent of those located in rural areas.* Telehealth apps make healthcare more convenient for all patients by reducing travel times and waiting times in healthcare facilities. Additionally, the telehealth care received by veterans led to a 31 percent decrease in VA hospital admissions and a 59 percent decrease in VA bed days of care.*
